Chapter 3
“So tell us, will you accept our offer of help detectives?” Hilde asked.
Loki glanced at Rebecca, deep in thought at what she had heard in the past two hours at the Bergman’s house.
“As your brother kindly pointed out we have no other explanation for the murders, so I guess we don’t have much of a choice,” he replied. “However it is vital that the press learn nothing of your suspicions Miss Bergman. We must be seen to be carrying out our investigation as normal, as we don’t want to encourage any kind of hysteria that the vampire angle would bring.”
“You have our word, Detective,” the vampires nodded in agreement.
“I have a question,” Rebecca said as they were about to leave. “You say that you don’t need to drink blood, but what would happen if you did?”
Hilde and Matthias were too horrified at Rebecca’s question to reply, so it was left to Hans, his eyes narrowed in fury.
“If any vampires of our kind drink blood they will become a nightwalker, but more evil than one already a nightwalker could ever aspire to be,” he hissed.
Note: I’ll be away for a few days at the end of this month, but hopefully everything will go well as soon as Free Time is installed next week so I’m aiming to release Chapter 4 before I go. If I don’t get it finished in time I’ll post it as soon as possible when I get back. I’ll be posting some out-takes from Chapters 2 and 3 at my Live Journal blog next week, so will add the link in a separate post on here. And yes, I know there are some sleeping ZZZZ’s in the second Bergman/Asgard shot 
When I took those pictures last summer I hadn’t installed Numenor’s "No ZZZ" hack. I have it now though…
Ahhh, that’s quite the explanation! I was wondering about the whole ‘walking in the light thing’. It’s interesting that you’ve tied them to mythology.
Sorry this is so late… with the fiance around, I’m usually playing a game with him or unable to sit and read without him poking me, LOL.
Tanya: Thanks Mao - Loki gave me idea for the mythological explanation, seeing as he’s named after a Norse god (and of course Circe is named after a character from Greek mythology; I believe she turned people into animals - possibly some of Jason’s Argonauts?).

Now, I understand. The Bergmans is vampire hunter and the three siblings is the evil vampire! Great update!
Tanya: That’s right - the Maxwell siblings are evil vampires, and the Bergmans (also siblings) are good vampires who also happen to be vampire hunters. Glad you’re enjoying the story!
